Founded by Michael and Erica Diskin and located in Boston's Financial District, Assembly Design Studio is a creative project management and design firm that works with image conscious companies but primarily restaurant clientele. The studio focuses on all aspects of branding, including graphic design, photography, interior/exterior design, event planning, and marketing.
In 2016, I had the privilege of working as an intern, which ultimately lead to my first job out of college, where I returned to Assembly to be a full-time designer. Whether I was on a job-site, coordinating with contractors or behind a computer creating graphics or sourcing furniture/decor, each day was new. I got to meet so many cool people and gained incredible insight into the restaurant industry and construction. Below is just a bit of this unforgettable experience!
Branding Application
I was granted creative freedom to design branding materials for various restaurants. I played off the already incredible design work of Michael Diskin, using specific typefaces, color palettes, and themes.
Space
Along with sourcing furniture and decor, I helped Erica with all aspects of construction and interior design, working on 12 commercial build-outs. Here are a few of my contributions.
Client Presentation
A significant part of my job was preparing for client meetings. I often had to create proposals to ideate the clients' needs for specialized projects, but I also created design sheets to give potential clients a sense of Assembly's past work. I worked diligently to standardize the proposals presented by Assembly.
Event Planning
Along with designing items for clients, I assisted my boss in event planning. I took part in Share our Strength's Taste of the Nation, a wedding for 300, a retail client party, and a real estate ribbon cutting. I created floor plans, programs, and signage. However, my work ethic shined through when it came to moving hundreds of folding tables. I always hustle.
